Obituary

Alice Mary Leuthauser-Retzlaff, 73, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away into the heavens Friday, June 13th, 2025. She gracefully and peacefully transitioned surrounded by family and prayer. Born in Washington state on October 26th , 1951, Alice went on to graduate from California State Long Beach with a degree in dietary science, as well as Western Nevada College with a degree in nursing. Although she had a wonderful career in healthcare and was a cherished coworker, she never failed to put family first. Always giving family her highest and first attention. Alice loved her grandsons and was blessed with the joyful toil of parks, happy meals and little boys with dirt on them. She was amused with slots machines and was uncritically fond of critters. She doted on her dogs, cats, fish, birds, turtles and ferrets and although there were many wonderful places in her world, one of her favorite places was on the back her horses. She was also very fond of adventuring for long hours through Nevada's dirt roads with her precious husband, Richard, in search of ghost towns. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Leuthauser, and brother, Erwin Retzlaff. She is survived by her son, Alex Leuthauser (Cheley), grandsons, Carter Leuthauser (Mara) and Dresdyn Leuthauser, as well as great granddaughter, Elisabeth Leuthauser. She has four living siblings we honor, pray for, and bless, Fred, Elaine, Susan, and Steve. As well as her cherished nieces, Julie, Maureen and Amber. Our sweet Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Sister will be remembered for 1 Peter 3:3-4. She did not let her adornment be merely outward- arranging her hair, wearing gold or putting on fine apparel. Rather she let it be the hidden person of the heart, with incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit adorn her, which is very precious in the sight if God. She will be remembered for always giving to those in need, even when she had little. A smile, a ride, a week of groceries, a phone call. She lived Matthew 6:19-21 beautifully and did not store up for herself treasures on Earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but stored up her treasures in heaven. She will be remembered for jokingly repeating that she had "lost her marbles" and her uncanny ability to fix anything with duct tape. -Alice never liked being the center of attention and per her wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please find and help a neighbor in need. -
