Obituary

After 23 years of managing multiple myeloma, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Angelina DeAngelo, 91, on April 15, 2026. She was surrounded by family in her final days. Angelina was born on May 28, 1934, in El Paso, Texas, to Pedro and Angela Castillo. She graduated from El Paso High School in 1955. Angelina married Nieson Dare DeAngelo in 1959 at St. Patrick's Cathedral in El Paso, and together they had six children. They traveled the world, and she loved every minute of it. She had an adventurous spirit.

Angelina was kind, loving, generous, and patient. She was a devout Catholic and always looked for ways to help people less fortunate than herself and inspired others to be helpers too. She was a fierce protector. Angelina was also an extremely talented artist who made porcelain dolls, sewed, painted, and even sculpted. She had style, an appreciation for antiques, and she enjoyed decorating...and redecorating. She loved music, especially country, and she loved food, especially tacos and chocolate.

Angelina had a surprising sense of humor. She kept people smiling and laughing until the end. She was joyful and fun. If you knew her, you loved her.

Angelina will be missed by many, including her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends. We were all so fortunate to have felt the warmth of her love and to have had her in our lives for so long.

Angelina is survived by her daughters, Lisa Shuttee and husband John; Monique Harmon and husband Steve; and Andrea DeAngelo and wife Jen; her grandchildren, Angelina Oldham and husband Clayton, Becky George and husband Brandon, Gabrielle Neiger and husband Zachary, and Vic Shuttee and wife Caitlin; and her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Beau George, Elliot Oldham, and Cosmo Shuttee.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela DeAngelo; her sons, Peter DeAngelo and Nieson DeAngelo; her parents, Pedro and Angela Castillo; and her siblings, Esperanza Pedroza, Victor Castillo, and Bertha Ochoa.

A memorial service will be planned for the summer of 2026.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center .
