Ann Hawkins Callahan, a beautiful lady, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a life richly lived and generously shared. Born in Roswell, Georgia, on December 4, 1948, Ann was the cherished only child of Jesse Harold "J.H." and Leila Hawkins. Her 76-year journey through life was one marked by an unwavering dedication to her loved ones, a passion for creativity, and an innate kindness that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Ann's life was a testament to her roles as a devoted daughter, a loving wife to her husband of 59 years, David Callahan, a nurturing mother to her daughters and sons-in-law, Candy and Brett DeHart, and Christi and Richard Bobo, and a wonderful grandma to her four grandchildren, Alexandra Bobo (Jack Freedman), Spencer DeHart, Samantha DeHart, and John-Howard Bobo. Her family was the cornerstone of her existence, and she nurtured each relationship with a blend of Southern grace and unconditional love. Ann's presence in their lives was a source of joy and inspiration, and her passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by each of them.
Her commitment to family extended to her two brothers-in-law, Don and Bud Callahan, and she was a cherished aunt to Tonya and John Lavoie (Hannah and Matthew), Tamara Callahan, Sherry and Howard Brown, Jr. (Noah & Joshua), and Bart Callahan (Carter and Isaac), and countless cousins and friends.
A woman of many talents, Ann's professional journey was as diverse as it was impressive. From her early days as a banker to her nurturing role as a kindergarten teacher, she excelled in every endeavor. As a business owner, she ventured into various fields, including a car wash, a construction company, an elite salon, and interior design. Her artistic gift and visionary mind brought beauty to the world in countless ways. Ann was not one to shy away from hard work; she managed offices, juggled multiple jobs, and was always the last to turn in for the night after ensuring her family was cared for and her house was in perfect order.
Ann was a true Southern Belle, not only in her poise and demeanor but also in her spirit. She was a woman of deep Christian faith, which guided her through life and inspired her to give back to her community. Her early days as a Miss Roswell Pageant Queen and her involvement with Beta Sigma Phi Sorority were just the beginnings of a lifetime commitment to service and philanthropy, especially for causes close to her heart and any involving babies and children in need.
Her interests and passions were a reflection of the joy and creativity she brought into the world. Ann's impeccable style, reminiscent of Barbie, her love for the sparkle and rhythm of Elvis, and her kind, country soul akin to Dolly Parton made her a unique and unforgettable presence. Her handy and creative nature was evident in everything she touched, and her kindness resonated in her every action.
Ann Callahan lived a life of purpose and passion, leaving us with memories of her warmth and elegance. While we mourn the loss of such an extraordinary person, we also celebrate the profound impact she had on our lives. Her legacy of love, creativity, and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Ann's memory will be cherished and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her beloved family and friends.
