Barbara Jean Zimmerman, age 62, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
Barbara was born in 1963 in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Harry Gene Hoops Sr. and Betty Phillips. She grew up with a loving family and carried that love throughout her life, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her.
A dedicated and talented chef, Barbara earned a four-year degree in Culinary Arts in Oklahoma and enjoyed a rewarding career before retiring. She had a passion for cooking and often shared her gifts with others, preparing meals for neighbors and helping care for the elderly. Her kindness, generosity, and compassion made a lasting impact on many lives.
Barbara was an avid animal lover and had a heart of gold. She was known for her caring spirit, selflessness, and unconditional love for others. Those who knew her often described her as someone who was simply too good for this world.
Her faith was an important part of her life. Barbara was a devoted Christian and a member of Wagon Wheel Baptist Church in Henderson, Nevada. Her family and friends find comfort in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus.
Barbara shared a special friendship with her longtime roommate and dear friend, Beth Sharpe, with whom she lived for 28 years. She also adored her niece, Nichole Zimmerman, who held a very special place in her heart.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Phillips of Las Vegas, Nevada; her stepfather, Bill Trancik of Las Vegas, Nevada; her brothers, Tony Gene Hoops of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jerry Don Zimmerman Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada; her beloved niece, Nichole Zimmerman; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Gene Hoops Sr., and her brother, Harry Gene Hoops Jr.
Barbara's loving spirit, warm heart, and generous nature will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
