Obituary

It is with a heavy heart, gratitude and honor that I have been asked to write the obituary of Billy Wayne Ballenger. Billy was born on Octoner 22nd, 1964 in Santa Monica, California to Susan Ballenger and Billy Ballenger. Billy passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 27th while his family held his hand, showered him with love and gave him their blessing to let go. Billy was tenacious, which served him well and was on full display during his long battle with cancer. As we would all watch in amazement and respect, he never shirked a task and was always willing to help, whether that be carrying a stack of tile up a flight of stairs, getting down on the ground to work on a vehicle, or climbing in and out if his favorite '65 Mustang, he did it with a happy, 'I Got This' attitude all while ignoring the immense pain he was in. If you were lucky enough to be considered a friend of Billy's, a true friend is what you had. He was loyal, dedicated, reliable and always willing to give you all he could. He was a friend that we all seek to have and aspire to be. Billy was our family's rolling stone. He loved the open road and never missed an opportunity to jump in his truck and travel from the west to the east coast, stopping to see family and friends along the way. He was the glue that bound long distance family and friends together. Billy is survived by his mother Susan Ballenger, sister Chrystie Johnson, brother Jay Ballenger, sister-in-law Cristin Ballenger, niece Brandi Alday and her husband Robert Alday, nephews Nicholas Ballenger & Tyler Ballenger, grand nephews Bryson Johnson & Logan Potter, and grand niece Emerson Alday. We are comforted knowing that Billy has no more pain, no more canes and has a renewed body that is capable of keeping up with his zeal for life. Thank you to all who have showered the family with love and support, it means the world to us and reminds us of the impact that Billy had on so many people. We will have a Celebration of Life in Billy's honor, dates to be announced soon. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family would appreciate a donation of any kind to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 3150 N. Tenaya Way, LV, NV 89128, who made an unbearable time, welcoming, peaceful, and treated us and Billy with love and respect. John 14:1- 5 NKJV "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know."
