Obituary

Carol Jane Welch, age 77, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

Carol was born on February 1, 1948, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Gladys Goodin and Clotis Lamkin. She attended Holy Trinity High School and later dedicated many years of service to others through her work as a Certified Nursing Assistant for the State of Arizona, retiring in 2010. Caring for people was not just her profession, but a reflection of who she was.

A devoted Roman Catholic, Carol lived her life guided by faith, kindness, and love for her family. She found joy in baking for those she loved, watching horror movies, and spending time with her cherished dogs. Above all, Carol deeply loved her grandchildren and took great pride in her family.

She is survived by her beloved dog, Karma Marie; her children Carolyne O'Brien (Johnny), William Phares (Monica), Kathryn Lopez, and Jerry Welch; and her grandchildren West, Brook, Anthony, Nettie, Billy, Paul, Elizabeth, Elena, Aisling, Eberardo, Ciara, and Alexander. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Amius, Abel, Valene, Sammy, Selena, and Liam, and her sister Patricia Witzig (Richard).

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Clotis Lamkin (1983) and Gladys Lamkin (1992); her husband Jerry Welch (2018); her children Michael John Phares (1974) and Ricky Phares (2010); and her siblings Danny Lamkin (1952), Gary Lamkin (1953), Sonny Lamkin (1961), Diane LaFever (1992), and Michael Lamkin (2022).

Carol will be remembered for her caring heart, her love of family, and the warmth she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
