Cheryl Jane Gautier, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 76. She was born on July 20, 1950, in Huntington Park, California, to Richard Edward Carpenter and Jane Marie Carpenter (Friess).

Cheryl grew up as the second oldest of five children, sharing her life with her older brother Tony, and younger siblings Mike, Randy, and Candi. In her early years, she demonstrated remarkable courage and resilience after contracting polio as a young child, just before the vaccine became available. This was a challenge she faced with the strength, determination and fight that would define her throughout her life.

She spent many years in Anaheim, California, before relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada in the mid-1990s, where she made her home and built a life full of love and lasting memories. Cheryl was a natural keeper of family history, blessed with a remarkable memory and an extraordinary ability to recall countless family stories with vivid detail and warmth. She was the thread that connected generations, and her gift for storytelling ensured that cherished memories and family moments were never forgotten.

In late July 2026, Cheryl was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. Though her illness progressed quickly, she was surrounded by family and love and was able to pass peacefully.

Cheryl is survived by her two children, daughter Stacey and son Richard; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, who were among her greatest joys. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Marie Williams and father, Richard Edward Carpenter.

Cheryl will be cremated, and her remains will be placed at Davis Memorial Park in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she will rest alongside her beloved mother.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends in due course.
