Chris Edward Prather, 63, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:15 p.m.
Born November 25, 1961, in Indianapolis, IN, to Andrew and Elsie Prather, Chris was one of eight siblings: Terry, Dona Jean, Sharon, Verna, Roy, Charlie, and Donny.
He married the love of his life, Denise, on September 23, 1989, in Fort Worth, TX. Together they built a life filled with family, laughter, and devotion. Chris proudly served his country and received numerous military awards and commendations. He later worked for Clark County at McCarran Airport and NV Energy before retiring to the Spring Mountains of Cold Creek, NV.
Chris had a passion for fishing, carpentry, gardening, and mechanics, and was an enthusiastic supporter of girls' softball. He had a deep love for animals and was rarely seen without his beloved dog, Stella.
He is survived by his wife Denise and a large, loving family including Stephanie Hanes, Luke Hanes, Misty Pretti, Bradleigh Pretti, Christan Smith, Emerald Webb, Zoe McQueen, Joel Curtis, John Smith, Sharon Johnson, Desarae Morris, Donna Jo Prather, Kim Cockrill, Andrea Peoples, Andy Tanner, and Steve Tanner, as well as a great number of other relatives that are too many to name.
The interment will take place on Friday, November 21 at 12:40 p.m. at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr., Boulder City, NV. A Celebration of Life will follow at 4 p.m. at the home of Phil & Sylvia Emery, 163 Eagle Nest Circle.
Chris will be remembered for his generous heart, strong spirit, and unwavering love for family and country.
