Danny Burnell Isom
March 21, 1954 – April 6, 2026
Danny Burnell Isom, age 72, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026.
Born on March 21, 1954, in Cedar City, Utah, Danny was the beloved son of Burnell and Dawna Isom. He was raised in Cedar City alongside his two brothers, Ricky and Jimmy, and his sister, Penny. He graduated from high school in Cedar City in 1972.
On April 3, 1976, Danny married the love of his life, Karen Wilkinson, in Cedar City, Utah. Together they shared a beautiful life of love and devotion, celebrating 50 years of marriage on April 3, 2026.
Danny worked many years as a cattle processing engineer, dedicating his career to Shulman Meats, Harrison Meats, and later retiring from US Foods. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication.
Danny had a personality that could light up any room. He always had a good joke ready to share and loved making people laugh—whether it was family, lifelong friends, or someone he had just met. He was a natural storyteller, often sharing tales of childhood mischief, youthful adventures, and life experiences that kept everyone entertained. He was known for wearing his hair long in a ponytail, a style that reflected his free spirit and individuality.
He also had his own special tastes, especially his love for a good tuna fish sandwich—with ketchup—a tradition he proudly passed down to his children and grandchildren.
Danny loved life and lived it fully. He enjoyed playing and singing guitar around a campfire with family, hunting deer and elk, and fishing whenever he had the chance. He was a talented swimmer who loved to dive and perform tricks in the water. He also enjoyed pool, ping pong, horseshoes, and watching sports and car racing. A lifelong fan, he proudly cheered, "Go Raiders!"
Above all else, Danny's greatest joy was his family. When asked what he wanted for birthdays or Father's Day, he would always say the same thing: for his children and grandchildren to come over and spend time with him. To Danny, family was the greatest gift of all.
Anyone fortunate enough to know Danny knew without question that they were loved. He showed his love through his actions, kind words, patience, and unwavering presence.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Karen Isom; his children, Tara Rodriguez (Kirk Rodriguez), James Isom, and Aubrey LaMond (David LaMond); his grandchildren, Kaylie Stuart (Conner Stuart), Alex Rodriguez, Alie LaMond, Jordan LaMond, and Danny Kay LaMond; and his great-granddaughter, Amelia Stuart.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Darlene Swain; his siblings, Ricky Isom, Jimmy Isom, and Penny Madrid (Frank Madrid); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burnell and Dawna Isom; aunts and uncles Pat Goble, Patsy Lee, Linda Goble-Tait, and Garth Bryant; and nieces Patty Hardwick and Amie Isom.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please contact the family for service details.
Danny's laughter, love, stories, and presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Now the time is, unfortunately, here;
my feelings alive, but sadly unclear.
I've built up an armor against tears,
in a defense that all humans fear.
My tears are salty, even with dry eyes,
for the love of those who shine.
Ten years is a long time.
God bless the caregiver,
in heaven, where the spirits
will forever shine,
and our captain will drive us through the haze
until we cross the pearly gates.
