Obituary

Darlene L. Cheney of Boulder City, Nevada passed away on September 8, 2025 at the age of 75. She was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on August 17, 1950. Darlene is survived by her two daughters, Brooke (Jim) Stauffer, and Poppi (Jason) Ealy, grandchildren, Jonathon (Jasmine) Stauffer and Karenna Stauffer. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents William and Jayne Lowery and sister Debi Gilbert. Darlene was married to her loving husband of nearly 53 years, Richard "Dick" Cheney, who preceded her in death on May 2, 2024. She will be laid to rest with Dick at the Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada. Darlene was dearly loved by all who knew her. She had many lifelong friends and extended family members who remember her kindness and laughter. Darlene had a fun loving, competitive spirit when it came to playing her favorite games of Yahtzee and Mexican train dominoes. She spent years at Boulder Bowl with friends playing in a bowling league. She loved going to any zoo and putting her toes in the sand at the beach. Darlene closely followed and cheered for the New York Yankees baseball team who she became a fan of through her husband Dick. Darlene had a creative talent for decorating and crafting. Many people wrap themselves in her gifted and donated crocheted afghans, baby blankets, scarves and hats. Darlene spent most of her working career in retail sales. She worked her way up the ranks to store manager of both Garden Botanica and her most loved store, Crabtree & Evelyn. Darlene's faith and love for her Lord and Savior was evident in how she loved and served others. Darlene and her husband Dick, served regularly at Hope Church Las Vegas as greeters and willingly helping out where needed. Darlene is greatly missed by many. To honor her life, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Darlene's memory to one of her favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A memorial service is scheduled on October 27, 2025 at 9:30am at Care Cremation & Burial, 5070 Arville Street, #14, Las Vegas, NV 89118. Reception to follow at 11am at 6150 Broken Slate Way, Las Vegas, NV 89139 and burial will commence at 2pm at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
