David Allen
Thompson
Aug 3, 1972 — Jan 29, 2024
David Allen Thompson passed away at age 51 on January 29, 2024 in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on August 3, 1972 in Tachikawa, Japan to Fujiko Akaboshi Thompson and Raymond James Thompson. David grew up in Okinawa, Japan, attending Kadena High School, until his family moved to San Bernardino, California during his senior year. As an adult, he went on to have a fulfilling career as a lab technician for Gypsum Mining in Las Vegas. David was an encyclopedia of random trivia. His thirst for knowledge earned him the nickname 'Discovery Dave' because he loved the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, National Geographic, and anything else he could learn from. He could also talk for hours about his love for 80's rock music and the Minnesota Vikings. Some days, you could find him out at a lake, fishing and enjoying nature. David loved to work with his hands and was famous for taking things apart so he could (usually) put them back together again. David had a huge heart, with a special soft spot for dogs including Tina, Wolfgang, Booboo, Bumblebee, and Peanut. David is survived by his mother Fujiko, younger sister Barbara, older brother Duane, his daughter Mikaelah, niece Naomi, and nephews Daniel, Derrick, and Dillon. David will be remembered for his sense of humor, strong will, big heart, and love of life. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to help cover expenses surrounding David's death.
