Dennis Wayne
Goms, Sr.
Oct 29, 1948 — Nov 15, 2023
Dennis made us proud of him. He was unique, a hard worker, full of fun, quick witted, and handsome. He loved life. He was born on October 29, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio to John Carl Goms and Mariemma R. Goms. He passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 15, 2023, having just turned 75. Dennis was a family man, spending countless hours with his wife, Ginny, their children, Dennis, Jr., Bryan, Lisa Rezinas, and their spouses and their 11 children, and the five great-grandchildren. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley, moved to Simi Valley where he spent decades raising a family. Upon retiring, he and Ginny moved to Las Vegas in 2012. As a child Dennis was an expert racing pigeon aficionado, a Little League baseball player, a prankster, intrepid camper and brother to John Ronald, Linda and Larry. He attended Beachy Elementary School in Pacoima, Pacoima Jr. High, and San Fernando High School (Class of 1966). He had many lifelong friends, and they remained a tight-knit crowd and often joined in the family gatherings. He entered the Air Force in 1968. Dennis married the love of his life, his wife, Ginny, in February 1969. They had just shy of 55 fun and crazy years. They had great times as a family, full of swim parties, hiking, BBQs, holiday gatherings, and just hanging out together. Dennis loved family, camping, desert riding on quads, woodworking and classic cars. He was so proud of how smart his kids turned out, he loved all of them dearly - but especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bragging about them was second nature to him. Dennis worked as an electrical mechanic for the Los Angeles Transit District for 23 years. His second career followed. He worked for the Simi Valley Dial-A-Ride for about 10 years. His customers loved him. Following his retirement, the Veterans Administration granted him 100% disability for his Air Force Service in Okinawa and Guam during the Vietnam Era. He proudly wore his baseball cap emblazoned with Vietnam Veteran on it. Dennis was predeceased by his parents, John Carl Goms (1971) and Mariemma (2018); his brothers, John Ronald (2021) and Larry (2013). He is survived by his wife, Ginny, children Dennis, Jr., Bryan, Lisa Rezinas and their extended families. He is also survived by his favorite sister, Linda Tollefson of Tacoma, WA; 15 cousins, and 6 nieces and nephews. Services at Cornerstone Community Church, 2080 Winifred Ave, Simi Valley 93063 on January 13th at 11 am. All are welcome.
