Obituary

Donald Wayne Goldfus of Henderson, Nevada and Minneapolis, Minnesota passed away July 22, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife Therese Marie of 64 years, son Brian Goldfus, daughter Karen G O'Connor, son-in-law Edward, and grandchildren Mackenzie and Blake. Don was born on February 17, 1934 in Minneapolis and after graduating North H.S. he served 4 years in the US Air Force. After his service, he attended the University of Minnesota and then in 1959 he started as the advertising manager at Harmon Glass, an Apogee Enterprises subsidiary. He went on to eventually become the CEO and Chairman of Apogee, and during his 40-year career at the company he was a driving force in growing the company from a handful of auto glass stores into the largest chain of auto glass shops in the country, a glass products fabricator, and a major international construction company with projects around the world. Don retired from the Board in 2004. Over his lifetime Don was involved with many organizations including as a member of the Board of Directors of Lifetouch and G & K Services, founding member of the U of M Leukemia Research Fund, President of the National Glass Association, and instructor at University of St. Thomas. During his life Don left an indelible impression on people he touched with his caring and loving personality. Minneapolis missed a great citizen when he moved to Henderson in 1999 after his retirement, but the community of Lake Las Vegas in Henderson welcomed him. True to his ability to build true friendships with people he flourished in his new home. Wherever he went or who he talked to, you always knew he cared how you felt and wanted to help you succeed. Above all, Don was a family man. Despite his busy schedule, he always took the time to provide a lift to a game, help with a project, or provide advice. He always put others' needs first. Don was a model husband, father and grandfather, who's love was unconditional and unlimited. Contributions in Don's memory can be made to SAFE HOUSE, safehousenv.org.
