Donald L. Lockett Sr., age 72, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 2, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Donald, affectionately known as "Buckwheat", "Uncle Buck" and "Bucky", was born on October 20, 1951, in San Francisco, California, to parents Ruby Howard and Virgil Lockett Sr. Donald graduated from George Washington High School and went on to attend both City College and San Francisco State University. A proud member of the Golden Gloves of America organization, He was a Golden Gloves Boxing tournament Winner in his youth. He was also a passionate musician with an affinity for Congo drums. Donald was well-known to those who love him as a charitable, religious man with a strong sense of self. Donald is survived by his wife of 43 years Beatriz Lockett, children, Donald (Mabel) Lockett, Virgil Lockett, Ali Lockett, and Benjamin Lockett; grandchildren DeAngelo Lockett, Isabella Rose Lockett, Penelope Lockett, Valentina Lockett and Piper Lockett; siblings Cynthia Irving, Lynn Famarin and Thelma Abercrombie; nieces Tiffany Hillburn, Ashley Hillburn, Monique Lockett, Alicia Griffin, Natasha Lockett, Tracy Thompson and Mickell Abercrombie, nephew Franco Salgato and Nathan Hillburn. Donald is predeceased by Willie Lockett, Vernon Lockett, Angelo Lockett, Ruby Howard, Shelia Lockett, John Earl Tillis, and Virgil Lockett. A funeral mass is scheduled for Wednesday December 13, 2023 at 10:00am at Star of the Sea Church, located at 4420 Geary Blvd, San Francisco, California 94118. Following the mass will be a celebration of life at Lost Marbles, 823 Clement St., San Francisco, CA 94118 from 11:30am to 3:30pm where stories, food and libations will be shared.
