Starts at 10:20 am (Pacific time)
Edward Payson Musser the III passed away peacefully in the early morning of October 9th, 2026, in his home in North Las Vegas, at the age of 87. Ed was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on September 1st, 1939 to Margarette Dawes and Edward Payson Musser the 2nd.
He was the youngest of 4 kids, his brother Delbert was oldest, followed by 2 sisters, Katherine Ann and Peggy.
In 1957 he joined the US Navy and served onboard the USS Lexington CV-16. He loved his time in the navy and speaks fondly of his Westpac deployments.
While home on leave, he met the girl of his dreams, Paula Janis Shelton. Together they wrote love letters back and forth until he got out of the Navy. They were married that same year, June 24th,, 1961. They remained married for 65 years until his passing. She was by his side.
A short time later they moved to Southern California, had 3 children, Susan Marie, David Edward, and Saralee. Family was important to him, supporting all the recitals, concerts, plays and baseball games. Soon he enjoyed grandchildren, Paul French, Sandra French, Rachelle French, Grant Osuna, Sam Osuna, Heather Osuna, and Jourdain Montoya. He was no longer Edward Musser or dad, he was Grandpa. He liked being grandpa and great grandpa to eight great grand kids.
He retired from the Southern California Gas Company in 1992 after 29 years at the age of 53. He was active in his Christian church as an usher and deacon until Covid hit.
His favorite thing to do was to play pranks on family, especially the grand and great grand kids. He really enjoyed when Alexa would tell him a fart joke. His heart was full. He was happy in life and always tried to bring joy and happiness to those around him. Beneath that humor was a man who loved Jesus. He prayed at every meal and encouraged others to learn about the love of Jesus. He is with him now.
There will be a memorial service at 10:20 am on Thursday October 22nd, held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr. Boulder City, NV 89005.
