Evan Blythin crossed the rainbow bridge on January 3, 2025 at the age of 82, after feeling pretty terrible for a month or so. He passed away in his sleep, in his own bed, as he wanted.
He lived a marvelous life, surrounded by dogs, family and friends. Nearly 50 years of Evan's life were in Blue Diamond, where he served as unofficial mayor and Tree Bar/Village Market fixture. He was an author, a musician, an artist, and an unabashed mischief-maker. Evan was a Professor Emeritus of Communication Studies at UNLV for 30 years, no doubt leaving a lasting impression on many young minds. Sorry about that.
Evan is survived by Barbara, the love of his life and wife of 58 years, his daughter Kendra (with son-in-law Chris) and his grandson Jacob. He is predeceased by Jasper, the dog of his heart and his golf cart co-pilot.
Evan's celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 starting at 1pm at the Blue Diamond Meeting/Rec Hall.
Come and share your favorite Evan stories and have some tacos and a few beverages.
He wouldn't want you spending your money on flowers. If you want to make an Evan-approved contribution, please donate to the Blue Diamond Recreation Association (BDRA).
