EvaNell Cannon, age 97 passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 07, 2026.
She was born November 09, 1928, in Albion, Michigan to parents Clyde and Annie (nee White) Rodgers.
EvaNell married twice in her life – first to Hezekiah Schauntte Parker and then to Reverend James Cannon.
She graduated from Benton Harbor High School and then went on to Teachers College. She had proudly worked for many, many years as a third-grade Teacher. There was one childhood memory that still made her chuckle so many years later: when Dr. King (neighbor) and other playmates accidentally set her hair on fire.
EvaNell loved travelling and was always the life of the party. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Venice, California since 1962.
She is survived by her son, Schauntte Parker and his wife, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by two sons: Leon Parker and Kambon Obayani; brothers: Mack, Calvin, Charles, Sammy, Howard, Billy and Ancel; and sister Leila Rodgers and both of her husbands.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 11:00am at
New Bethel Baptist Church, 503 Brooks, Avenue, Venice, California 90291.
Celebration of Life / Repast to follow at Oakwood Recreation Center.
