Obituary

Frances Carolyn Johnson, age 93, Saturday, October 21, 2023. Frances was born May 15, 1930, Mondovi, Wisconsin to Lulu Mae Gueldner and William Franklin Gueldner. Her childhood was spent on "the farm" in Eleva, Wisconsin. She disliked milking the cows and doing chores, but enjoyed the farm animals as her pets. She cherished her brothers, Leonard Hanson and Bernard Gueldner, (Allen Spencer Gueldner died at age 6 before Frances was born, all are now deceased). She attended school in the same "schoolhouse" and graduated from Eleva High School in 1948. She married the love of her life, Laverne Everett Johnson on June 17, 1950, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. They lived in Wisconsin and in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, but most of their years together were in California, Oceanside while stationed at Camp Pendleton, Salinas after Military retirement, where they raised five children together, although Vern gave the "credit" to his "darling" wife. She held down the fort while he did his part by serving in the Marine Corps, which took him on several tours of duty for long periods of time. They moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 1997 until her Vern passed in 2020. She lived in Henderson, Nevada for the last two years. Frances was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, where she participated in all areas of service for as long as she was able to do so. Her great joy was that her children are believers and followers of Jesus and know Him as their Savior. Nothing made her happier than being with her family. However, line and square dancing, traveling in their RV to visit family and friends across the country and camping, vacations in Hawaii and the Caribbean with kids and grandkids, crocheting blankets for everyone, playing her organ, making friends wherever she traveled, and always taking photographs and videos, ranked very high on her list of loves as well. She never "met a stranger". She brought home "strays" - in the form of new friends. She remembered the details of your life! She kept every card, letter, and announcement, you ever sent to her - she was truly the ultimate correspondent. She cared. If she said she'd pray for you, she did. When she told you she loved you, she meant it. Frances is survived by her children - Gary (Ann) Johnson, Steve (Jill) Johnson, Connie (Ernie) Blackwell, Bryan (Linda) Johnson; 11 Grandchildren - Joni (Nicholas) Brown, Lexi Johnson, Zachary (Alexis) Johnson, Shannon (Kenneth) Cotter, Jason (Julia) Blackwell, Aaron (Scarlett) Blackwell, Kelsie Blackwell, Lee (Zee) Johnson, Eric Johnson, Cambria (Boris) Alvarado, Landon (Crystal) Johnson; 14 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren, Sister-In-Laws Nancy Johnson, Joyce Davidson, Brother-In-Law Don (Diane) Johnson, numerous nieces and nephews in the Johnson, Hanson and Gueldner Families, many life-long friends including Lucille Miller of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and several "just like my own" kids including close friends of her kids who called her "mom", you know who you are! She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Her beloved husband of 70 years, Vern, on 12/6/2020, and her fourth child Randal Lavern Johnson, on 9/18/2021. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., at the Lake Mead Christian Academy's new building located at 522 E. Lake Mead Parkway, Henderson, NV 89015. Lake Mead Parkway Henderson, NV 89015 Lamb of God Lutheran Church 2791 Inca Drive Lake Havasu City, AZ 86406 Mom asked for this: After Glow I'd like the memory of me To be a happy one. I'd like to leave an after glow Of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo Whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times And bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve To dry before the sun, Of happy memories that I leave When life is done. Author unknown
