Obituary

Sunrise: April 18, 1936 Sunset: November 2, 2025 Mrs. Frances Louise (Peairs) Waters, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and lifelong educator, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on November 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 18, 1936, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Frances was the second child, and first daughter, of the late Henry G. Peairs and Rosalee McQueen. She grew up in a close-knit family filled with love, laughter, and faith. She was the last of her siblings to survive and was preceded in death by her dear siblings Earnest Peairs, Nathan R. Peairs, Henry J. Peairs, Rose Marie (Peairs) Sutton and Nellie Elizabeth (Peairs) Irving, all of whom she cherished deeply. Frances graduated from Carver High School in Pascagoula, Class of 1954, where she excelled both in academics and athletics - even playing varsity on the girls' basketball team. She went on to further her education at Alcorn A&M College, now proudly known as Alcorn State University, an esteemed HBCU that helped shape her lifelong love of learning. That love of learning blossomed into a remarkable 36-year teaching career, during which she taught across various grade levels and school districts in Mississippi and California. Frances's passion for education, her nurturing spirit, and her unwavering patience touched the lives of thousands of countless students. She taught from kindergarten to adult learners. Her heart was with special education and middle school aged students, and her favorite subjects to teach were Math & Science. She didn't just teach lessons - she inspired futures. Frances was united in holy matrimony to the late Sam Waters Jr., and together they built a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion. They raised three sons who carry forward her strength and compassion: John Henry Peairs, Samuel Terrence Waters, Ph.D., and Nathan Wayne Peairs (who preceded her in death). A woman of deep faith, Frances was baptized at Union Baptist Church in Pascagoula, Mississippi, where she began her spiritual walk with the Lord. She was a child of God and loved attending church services, finding joy in fellowship and worship. Beyond the classroom and the church, Frances found peace and delight in life's simple pleasures - solving crossword puzzles, carefully preserving jigsaw puzzles, and cheering passionately as a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan (win or lose, her loyalty never wavered!) She leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and laughter in the hearts of her grandchildren: Turdelle D. Waters, Tanicia Nicole Peairs, Clydell Wayne Peairs, John Henry Peairs Jr., Tristina Peairs, Kelsey Alexandria Laura Waters, and Terrence Wayne Peairs. Frances was cared for with grace, compassion and devotion by her loving niece Synthia (Gary) Armstrong and grand-niece Samethia Gary until her peaceful passing. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, all of whom were touched by her kindness, encouragement, and radiant smile. Mrs. Frances Louise (Peairs) Waters will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Sam Waters Jr., in her hometown of Pascagoula, Mississippi, where their love will forever rest. Her spirit, strength, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. AMEN
