Lt. Col. Frederick R. Miller, an Eagle Scout, a distinguished veteran and a dedicated musician, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 1, 2025, in Las Vegas, NV. Born on January 22, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA, Frederick led a life marked by service, love, and music.
Frederick was born to Frederick G. Mager and Ethel Berry Mager. Tragically, his father passed away in 1931 in a tuberculosis camp. Ethel later remarried Alfred H. Miller, who adopted Frederick, providing him with a loving and supportive home.
Frederick's dedication to his country was evident in his illustrious career as a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force. Serving from 1951 to 1976, he bravely fought in the Vietnam War and earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and superiors. During his career he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Presidential Citation, The Bronze Star and The Meritorious Service Medal, to name a few.
On June 20, 1953, Frederick married the love of his life, Theresa B. Krebs of Philadelphia, PA. Their marriage was a source of great joy and companionship until Theresa's passing on August 8, 1998. Together, they built a family filled with love and warmth.
Frederick had a deep passion for music, particularly jazz, and was an accomplished trumpet player. He played in the UNLV and Clark County Community College bands and brought joy to many through his performances and jams at local bars and dance venues.
Frederick leaves behind his three devoted daughters: Karen Coleman (Clark), Debra Ellenberger (James), and Lauren Homan (Scott) and her three children Frederick Carapel, Hale Homan and Davis Homan and four cherished grandchildren Jude, Delilah, Nova Grace, and Halo. His legacy of love, dedication, and music will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Lt. Col. Frederick R. Miller will be remembered for his unwavering service to his country, his extraordinary musical talent, and his enduring love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A service with military honors, will be held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery on April 2nd at 10am.
