Gary Lee Kirk, 84, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on August 10, 1941, in Stockton, KS, to Martha and George Kirk. Gary was raised alongside his sister, Ann Nelson, and his brother, Jim Kirk. He married Carol Mueller on January 31, 1970, in Jacksonville, FL. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence and also attended Naval Postgraduate School. Gary served 20 years in the Navy as a pilot, most notably serving as a fighter pilot in the Vietnam War, and also as a mathematics teacher. Gary was a devoted Catholic and valued faith, family, and education throughout his life. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Carol Kirk; his son, Jeff Kirk; his sister, Ann Nelson; and his grandson, Thomas Kirk. Gary will be deeply missed by all those lucky enough to know him. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday May 21, 2026, at 10am at Gary's home parish of St John Neumann Roman Catholic Church, 2575 W El Campo Grande Ave, North Las Vegas, NV 89031. Gary's burial will take place on Friday May 29, 2026, at 10:40am at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr, Boulder City, NV 89005.
