Obituary

Grace Ann Marguerite Bougere Jones, 83, of Henderson, NV, passed away on March 19th, 2025, in her daughter and sons-in-law's home in Anthem Highlands. Born in NYC and raised in Holyoke, MA, by Mac R. Bougere and Grace Kelly, she remained close to her Holyoke High School classmates throughout her life, some of whom were her dearest friends. A proud graduate of Mount Holyoke College, she became a special education teacher and prolific writer. She embraced adventure, moving 29 times with her US Army husband, Wendell Oren Jones, forging lasting friendships both in the US and internationally.
Grace met her husband when they both worked as interns for President JFK. Grace was adventurous and fun-loving, always eager for new experiences. Her passion for genealogy, predating the internet's popularity, left a rich legacy for her descendants. As a faithful Catholic she attended mass regularly and had a special place in her heart for Father Edmund at St. Thomas More, who did not hesitate to comfort her, hold her hand, and pray with her the day before she died. A 20-year resident of Sun City Anthem, she chose to remain in her beloved community after her Alzheimer's diagnosis, with her daughter Kimberly, son-in-law Matthew, and grandson Justin relocating from Pennsylvania to care for her in their home for the past 4 years.
Grace loved music and movies and enjoyed an abundant life of adventure right up until her passing. She also loved animals and was adored by two dogs that were by her side all the time, showering her with affection. She was enveloped in love and music up until the moment she peacefully passed away. There are so many friends and relatives that will mourn her passing and who she dearly loved.
Predeceased by her parents, husband Wendell, and an older sister who she adored but met later in life, Eileen Pelkey Boraski; she is survived by siblings Kathleen Bougere, Tony Bougere, and Nancy Bigelow; children Dan Jones and his wife Stephanie, Brian Jones, and Kimberly Jones-Rudolph and her husband Matthew; and grandchildren Tyler, Ryan, Justin, Cara, Leah, Victoria, and Lydia.
She will be interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery (date to be announced) "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal." -Irish Proverb
