Harlan Edgar
Woehrle, Jr.
Jan 15, 1924 — Mar 6, 2024
Harlan E. Woehrle, known as 'Bud' or 'Buddy' to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nv. He was 100 years old. 'Bud' was born on January 15, 1924 in Easton, Pa. He graduated from Easton High School in 1942 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the Navy. He became a Signalman 2nd Class serving aboard the U.S.S. New Jersey, the flagship for Admiral Halsey's 3rd Fleet in the Pacific campaign of World War II. 'Bud' saw significant action in many storied battles against the Japanese. Honorably discharged in 1946, 'Bud' returned home and worked at various jobs including Supervisor at Mac Printing, a prominent Easton business. He met the love of his life, Dorothy 'Dot' Mazza, in 1955 and moved with her to California in 1958. They were married in 1960 and together until her death in 1999. Both 'Bud' and 'Dot' worked in the Beverage and Hospitality business, owning and operating various establishments over 35 years. They retired to Desert Shores, Ca. and then eventually Las Vegas. To the very end, 'Bud' was an avid fisherman and devoted San Francisco Giants fan. 'Bud' was truly a 'one-of-a-kind', what with his gregarious nature, wry humor, and genuine down-to-earth personality and style. He made everyone feel welcome and special. He will be missed greatly by many, many people. People like 'Bud' don't come along often. He is survived by his nephew Budd, niece Brooks, step-grandson Richard, step-granddaughters Maureen and Nicole, as well as step-daughter RoseMarie and step-son Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his parents Harlan, Sr. and Lillian, brother Charles, sisters Dorothy and Emilie, and his wife 'Dot'. He will be interred at the Veteran's Cemetery in Boulder City at a date to be determined. Arrangements are through Care Cremation and Burial of Las Vegas. Donations in 'Bud's name can be made to V.A. Southern Nevada Healthcare System by calling (702) 791-9134 or by going online to va.gov.
