Obituary

Hector D. Castaeda, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 82 years old. Born on December 19, 1941, in Rio Grande City, Texas, was the youngest of seven children to Octavio Castaeda and Rosalia Salmon, he cherished the time spent with his brothers and sisters growing up at their parent's bakery in Rio Grande City. Hector married the love of his life Maria del Carmen Esparza on May 7,1973 in El Paso, Texas. They had two sons together Hector Jr. and Carlos. Hector was an entrepreneur at heart and a good businessman, one of his last businesses he established was a business of vitamins and supplements store in 1994 in El Paso called 'Natural Vitamins & Herbs' after getting a stage 4 diagnosis of cancer and believing he could recover from cancer using natural alternatives. He loved watching the Cowboys football games and horses particularly the thoroughbred races! He moved to Las Vegas in 2017 to enjoy his retirement years. Not being one to stand still he worked part-time at a store to make enough money to play the races! Hector will be deeply missed by Carmen, his sons and sisters Gloria Garcia and Olga Provencio, brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as by four siblings Octavio, Frances, Ernesto and Lamar. He was a deeply faithful man as a Roman Catholic. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privileged of knowing him. May the light of the Lord shine upon him and may he rest in peace. He will be surrounded by the love of those who cherished him.

A memorial mass in El Paso, Texas, and an interment in Rio Grande City, Texas will occur at a later date.
