Eulogy - By 9 year old granddaughter Paige Hung

When Grandma used to live in my house 🏡 I would spend 30 minutes to practice and learn Chinese with her everyday. While spending time with Grandma, she would let me eat a few pieces of her crackers 🥮 and I would leave crumbs in her room even though Grandma cannot see it. And if Grandma is doing exercises, I would copy her and move my arms and legs and help her count out loud. 🦵💪🏻.

Grandma is a fun person because I would put a lot of hair clips all over her head 🎀, and she wouldn’t mind at all. I would even try to tie up some of her hair 🪮even though her hair is very short 👵 and we would both laugh because the tiny pony tail on top of her head would make her look like the funniest looking grandma in the world. 🤪🤪🤪 Grandma was the only one that wears slippers at my house, and she had really cool orange slippers with red flower print 🌺 on it and I would always try to put it on whenever Grandma is not using it.

Sometimes on Sundays after church we would go to Chinese restaurants 🥡🥢 to eat lunch. We would order fish stomach soup 🐠 and Peking pork🐷 because Grandma and I have the same favorite dishes. Sometimes when Grandma listened to Chinese YouTube, I would steal her iPad and talk weird Chinese to Siri and that would make Grandma laugh 😂🤭😆

When I am sad☹️, Grandma would do facial and massages on my face to cheer me up, and it would feel so comfortable that sometimes I would fall asleep 💤 . I miss Grandma. 😢 But one day I will see her in Heaven. 😇😇😇

Obituary - By 13 year old granddaughter Penelope Hung

My Grandmother was born on March 22, 1935 in Hong Kong as the oldest of seven children. Having come from a Christian family, she would tell stories of her growing up in a church and fascinating tales of the people in her village. She was devoted to her family and husband, George, and together they raised four beautiful children. She was not only a mother but also a wonderful chef, a co-founder of one of the first chains of Chinese takeout restaurants ever in Kent England and cooking delicious food for others to eat. Eventually she also became a grandmother of 8 grandchildren. She would proudly count the number of sons, daughters, grandsons, and granddaughters that she has to everyone she meets. She was also proud of her long ears, being a sign of wisdom and longevity in Chinese culture.

Throughout her whole life, she was a dedicated, loving, and kind woman who can always find a way to make you smile. Anywhere she went she left it better than it was before. She loves to build relationships, talking, laughing, and even singing with others to make them feel happy. She is cared for by many of her friends and family. Every time that people would come and visit her, she would always have many conversations with them. Even when she was in a nursing facility, she would always remember her nurses through their voices and personalities. She always shared her love, giving out snacks, and making connections with people.

She was also a tough woman, having been diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a rare eye disease that causes slow vision loss, and ovary cancer as she aged. Even through the hard times, she didn’t let that stop her. She kept her spirits high, and didn’t become fully blind until 80 years old. She continued to share her stories and laughter with people, whether it was on the phone or in person, and her memory was still sharp.

My Grandmother peacefully passed away in her sleep on August 1st, 2026, having lived a long and prosperous life of 91 years.

Though she will be greatly missed by her family and friends, we know her memory will forever remain with the lucky ones who had the privilege of getting to know her.
