Obituary

James "Jim" Russell Phillips, 67, of North Las Vegas, NV, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026 with his devoted wife by his side. Jim was born on December 23, 1958, in New York City, NY, to the late Doris and Oliver Phillips. As a child, his family moved to Virginia, where he spent most of his life. Jim met and fell in love with his wife, Marian, with whom he enjoyed over 23 years of the life they built together, living in Myrtle Beach, SC, Charlotte, NC, and Las Vegas, NV. He was a devoted husband and prominent father figure to Aliya and Robbie, enjoying the time with his wife's family, especially the last 6 1/2 years in Las Vegas. He loved his father-in-law, Ron Burns, as a dad. Jim was very sociable, and to him, there were no strangers - enjoying the conversations and friendships made. In addition to his loving wife, Marian Phillips, he is survived by step-children, Steven, Laurie, Jennifer, Christopher, Michelle, Kyle, Andrew, James, Justin, Robbie, Michael Blevins, and Aliya Holtmeyer; his wife's family, Ron Burns, Ronnie, and his wife Rose Burns, Dianne May, Michael Burns, and his fiancée, Karen Ortiz; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Jim always cherished the love, support, and time spent with our family. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Fran Burns, who he loved dearly. Jim will be forever loved and always missed. Jim is also survived by his brother, Carson Phillips; sisters, Jackie McNew, Jean Ross Harrell; nieces, Jennifer McDonald, Kristy Garcia, and Jessica Perez; and extended family. In addition to his parents, Doris and Oliver Phillips, Jim was predeceased by his grandmother, Gladys Rafter; sisters, Jane Lamont, and Virginia Hacker. A graveside service will be held at Palm Northwest Cemetery, 6701 N Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV. Special thanks to all the staff at Nathan Adelson Hospice Center for the excellent and compassionate care provided.
