James 'Jimmy' Slaughter, age 76, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jimmy was born on November 21st, 1946, in Somerset, Kentucky, to parents Garfield and Irene Slaughter. Raised alongside his sister Linda and brother Donald, he completed high school and went on to join the United States Air Force. His work as a fireman in the USAF was easily parlayed into a further fire science career with EG&G. Known as a loving grandfather, avid bowler and trustworthy friend, Jimmy regularly attended church and enjoyed working out in the yard in his spare time. He married the love of his life Ronnie on January 5th, 1967 and enjoyed many years with her at his side. Jimmy is survived by his son Sean; daughter in law Shelby; grandchildren Jonathan, Darius, Seani, Alexis, Vanessa, Dalton, and Tyler; great grandchildren Sophie, Darrian, and Emerson; as well as many other family members and friends. Jimmy is predeceased by his loving wife of Ronnie Slaughter; daughter Amy Slaughter, parents Garfield and Irene Slaughter; brother Donald Slaughter and sister Linda Slaughter. A service to celebrate Jimmy's life is scheduled for 11am on Saturday December 2nd, 2023 at Friendship Church of God in Christ, located at 2249 W. Washington Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89016.
