In Loving Memory of Janet L. Wright

Janet lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a remarkable ability to make the people around her feel special. She was incredibly talented and could make anything more beautiful. Behind her sparkling blue eyes was a smart, fiercely protective, generous, loving, and immensely creative woman. She could make you laugh like no other.

She passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at the age of 86 (truly, a very young 86), leaving behind a family and circle of friends who will miss her deeply and remember her with grateful hearts.

Born on December 16, 1939, in Vincennes, Indiana, to Bruce and Eleanor Thorne, Janet built a life defined by professional excellence, resilience, and an unwavering love for her family and her many beloved pets. After many years as a homemaker, she forged a remarkable and illustrious career as a Building Engineer and later as a Regional Software Administrator at Centel (later known as CenturyLink/Sprint/Luman), where she earned the respect of her colleagues through her sharp intellect, creativity, dedication, and pioneering spirit.

Janet was deeply devoted to God and to her family, who were the greatest joy of her life. In 1959, she married Frank G. Davenport. Together, they welcomed four beautiful children: Terese “Terri” Marie, Kimberly Ann, Frank Daniel “Danny” and Keith Michael. Janet’s life was forever changed in 1974 when Danny died unexpectedly. The next chapter of her life began in 1978 when she married F. LeRoy Wright. For 48 extraordinary years, they shared a partnership of devotion, mutual support, and enduring love, embracing their blended family.

Janet’s legacy continues through her devoted husband, LeRoy Wright; her children, Terri, Kim, and Keith (and his wife, Toni); her stepchildren Brett and Brennan (and his wife Andrea); her ten cherished grandchildren; and her five adored great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Jo (Bob) Mitchell (Bob) and her brother, Paul (Shiela) Thorne. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Danny Davenport, her parents, Bruce and Eleanor (Barr) Thorne, her sister, Marilyn “Lynn” Collins, and her brother, John “little john” Thorne.

She leaves behind stories that will be told again and again, laughter that still echoes in the hearts of those who loved her, and a legacy of kindness that will continue through her family. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The people who knew Janet will remember her quick wit and sharp tongue that kept everyone around her on their toes... always paired with a brilliant mind and fiercely protective heart.

Janet's life will be celebrated privately. The family requests that those who knew Janet honor her memory by sharing a laugh and spending time with the people they love—things she believed were among life's greatest gifts.
