Joan Langdon, beloved mother, grandmother, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on April 12, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Joan lived a life filled with curiosity, humor, and grace.
A dedicated teacher, Joan inspired generations of students with her love of learning and her belief that education could open worlds. She was an avid reader who never stopped seeking new knowledge. Her passion for discovery continued long after her classroom teaching days-through books, OLLI classes, and the many new friendships she made along the way.
Joan also had a taste for adventure-she loved to travel, experience new cultures, and bring home stories that reflected her open-hearted approach to life. Her enthusiasm for ballroom dancing added sparkle and rhythm to her days, while her sharp wit, boundless humor, and good-natured mischief endeared her to all who knew her.
A lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers, Joan could always be counted on to cheer for her team in full fan regalia-complete with her treasured cheesehead-on football Sundays. Ever the optimist, she carried that same spirited enthusiasm into her personal life. Joan was a perpetual romantic, always hopeful that true love was just around the corner-so hopeful, in fact, that she gave marriage several enthusiastic tries. Her family and friends like to imagine her arriving in heaven scanning the crowd for any familiar ex-husbands, ready to give them a good-natured razzing before dancing off to her next adventure.
Throughout her life, Joan shared her love with many cherished pets and built an incredible network of close friends who became like family. Her kindness, warmth, and loyalty left an enduring mark on every life she touched.
A member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Joan drew strength and comfort from her faith and her church community.
Joan is survived by her son, Justin; his wife, Marie; her adored grandson, Harrison (age 8); and her cousin, Elaine. She was especially known for her magic touch in choosing gifts for Harrison and for the way her face lit up in his presence. Among the many joys in her life, being a grandmother was her greatest.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Henderson, Nevada. Friends are invited to wear Joan's signature color, green, or an outfit that reminds them of her, and join in celebrating her incredible life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to local animal shelters in Joan's honor, reflecting her lifelong love and compassion for God's creatures great and small.
