John B. Connolly Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the age of 85. John was originally from Dorchester, MA. He was the son of the late John B. Connolly Sr. and Doris Connolly. John was a loving brother to Joan Connolly of Dorchester, MA. and the late Daniel Connolly, survived by his wife, Nancy of North Hollywood, CA. He was the beloved husband of Therese Connolly, of Las Vegas, Nevada and loving father to Brian Connolly, Annette Connolly, Kathleen Assad and her husband Emil Assad, John Connolly and wife Michelle Connolly. John was revered by his stepchildren Ashleigh and Patrick Borglund. He was a proud grandfather to Matthew, Kaitlyn, Joshua, Jordan, Aidan, Rowan and Emmie. He was a loving husband to his former late wife Bernadette Connolly. He also cherished his many nieces and nephews.
John was raised as youth in Dorchester, MA where he and his childhood friends formed lasting relationships. The Neponset gang were known as "The Dukes" and then "The Redmen". John had an adventurous childhood with his family and friends.
After high school, John served his country in the United States Air Force and eventually was assigned to the war efforts in Korea. After his service, John later worked in the organized trades as an Iron Worker, Sign Erector, and Painter where he developed his love for organized labor and the labor movement. John studied labor relations at the George Meany Center for Labor Studies, and later continued his passion for the labor movement as a Business Agent, Business Manager, Financial Secretary and International Representative for various union organizations such as the Sign Local 391, IUPAT; AFL-CIO International Representative and Deputy Director of Organization for the Office and Professional Employee International Union; Staff Director and Field Representative for Services Employees Union, Local 1107 and Business Agent and Organizer for Glaziers Union, Local 2001.
In retirement, John continued to feed his love of traveling, the outdoors, and gathering with family for more than 20 years. He was happiest at the beach with his family and friends, golfing, or just wining and dining. He absolutely loved to socialize and enjoyed meeting new people. John Connolly was truly grateful for his life and lived life to the fullest! He will live in our hearts forever and be truly missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him.
