John Eisert, beloved son, brother, friend, and entrepreneur, passed away on April 9, 2025, at the age of 62. Born to Oren Harvey and Margaret Anne (Vettern) Eisert, he was the fifth of six children. John was outgoing and had an adventurous spirit from a young age. His entrepreneurial flair became evident early on when, as a boy, he famously sold his grandfather's tomatoes door to door for a cut of the profits. This early taste of business set the stage for a lifelong career defined by his passion for sales and hard work.
John graduated from Brown Institute and began his career as a radio DJ. His natural charisma and love for the industry quickly led him into sales, a field where he would make his mark for decades. Over the years, John worked in several markets throughout the upper Midwest, gaining experience and developing the skills that would eventually lead him to pursue his dream of radio station ownership.
In 1988, John married Sara Ames, who became his partner in both life and business. In 1996, they realized John's long-held dream by purchasing their first radio station. A second station soon followed and through relentless hard work, determination, and his unyielding drive, John successfully upgraded both stations and relocated them to Spencer and Storm Lake, Iowa, where they thrived.
After selling the stations in 2003, John and Sara moved to Las Vegas, where he turned his focus to owning and running several small businesses. Despite facing health challenges that eventually led to his retirement, his legacy as a tenacious businessman lives on. Although John and Sara divorced in 2010, they remained close friends until John's passing, their bond strong even through life's challenges.
In retirement, John found joy in the simpler things in life. He became an avid gardener, nurturing his beloved rose bushes, and found companionship in his cats. His cat Buddy, who passed away just a year ago, held a special place in his heart, and his newest companion, DeeDee, brought him great joy and comfort.
A true lover of food, John took great pleasure in sharing meals and laughs with family and friends. John thoroughly enjoyed. having friends and family visit and spent a week just before his passing hosting his brother David at his home.
John was a man of strength and determination and had a great love for life. His infectious laughter, his bigger-than-life personality and his larger-than-life spirit live on in our hearts and minds. John's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched, in the businesses he built, and in the countless memories he created with those who had the privilege of knowing him.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Mark. He leaves behind his ex-wife and lifelong friend, Sara, his siblings David Eisert, Laurie (Mike) Hobson, Cindy Kath, Mike (Karen) Eisert, and many lifelong friends who will miss him greatly. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his boundless energy, his sense of humor, and his love of life.
Rest in peace, John. Your laughter, love, and light will continue to shine in our hearts forever.
