John N. Natsis, 89, Las Vegas, formerly of Moline, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Nathan Adelson Hospice, Las Vegas, NV, on Thursday, September 21st at 2:34 PM, with his daughter by his side. Care Cremation & Burial have been entrusted with the arrangements. Services are pending. Mr. Natsis was born July 9th, 1934, the son of Nick and Ruby Natsis, in Bryan Texas. The youngest of five, he was preceded in death by his four older brothers and sisters. Mr. Natsis grew up in Moline, Illinois, attending Moline Sr. High School and graduating in 1953. He was active in chorus, rifle club, and After Dinner Club. He married Gloria M. Wood in Moline in 1966 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. She died in 2005. Mr. Natsis was employed by McGlaughin Body Co. as a welder for 34 years, retiring in 1990. An avid sports fan, Mr. Natsis attended many St. Louis Cardinals baseball games and was a huge supporter of Moline High School basketball and football. He rarely missed a game and enjoyed the company of his brother Pete at the events. He also coached his daughters' softball team form 1975 - 1979. Mr. Natsis was a devout Greek Orthodox Christian and was a church chanter for 15 years, having been awarded a certificate of achievement in byzantine chant by then Bishop Iakovos of Chicago. He also sang in the choir for over 40 years. He served on the parish council from 1972 to 1975. He was a member of AHEPA for many years. In later years, he resided with his daughter and son-in-law in Dallas, TX, then in Las Vegas, NV. The family wishes to thank Nathan Adelson Hospice and Care Cremation & Burial for their compassionate and professional care. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Marianthe and Michael Nagel, Las Vegas; grandchildren Patric Nagel, Las Vegas, Gabrielle Nagel de Duhart (Adan Duhart), McKinney, Texas; Jonathon Shrum, Minnesota; Cera Brown, Jordan Brown, and Andy Brown, all of Seattle; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; daughter Melanie Natsis Brown; brother, Pete Natsis, sisters Margaret Natsis-Rexinger, Constance Natsis-Martin, and Soula Natsis-Weaver.
