Obituary

John Michael Sheahan, affectionately known as "Mike," peacefully passed away at home in Las Vegas at the age of 80, with his beloved wife Margaret "Margie" of 44 years by his side. After a long battle with medical challenges, Mike quietly passed in Margie's arms, just the way he wanted-at home, in his own bed, with Coco, his cherished 14 year-old labradoodle nearby. Classic Mike, doing it his way.
He spent time in Aspen, Colorado, where he embraced the outdoors and honed his skills as a classically trained French chef.

Mike proudly claimed he had trained under one of the finest French chefs in the world.  His cooking was unforgettable-whether it was his perfectly prepared salmon with award-winning hollandaise sauce, his exquisite Tournedos Rossini (filet mignon with foie gras), or his signature green chili, every meal with Mike and Margie was a celebration. Mike was also an avid fly fisherman, finding peace and joy in the rivers of Colorado. Tying flies and casting lines in the Rocky Mountains was one of his greatest pleasures, reflecting his deep love for nature.

Mike and Margie met in Denver at Mammoth Gardens, early 1981, where their true love story began. Their shared alias "M&M4EVER" was more than a nickname-it was a testament to their enduring bond. Mike worked as the Food and Beverage Manager at the legendary Mammoth Gardens.
In 1983, Mike and Margie moved to Las Vegas, where he transitioned into slot and gaming management. Over the next eight years, Mike built a respected career in the gaming industry, as Slot Director at Silver City casino, managing hundreds of employees. His leadership, integrity, and dedication earned him a reputation as one of the best in the business.
Mike's impact extended far beyond his professional life. Friends and family often said, "Everyone that met Mike loved him." He was known for "consuming the juice of life"-a nod to his love of wine and his zest for living. His unwavering dedication to Margie never faded, and his joyful spirit made him "an amazing guy that was so much fun to be with."
Mike was born on February 16, 1945, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to his loving parents, Katherine "Kitty" and John Sheahan. He is fondly remembered by his devoted wife, Margie; his sisters, Pat and Peg; his brothers, Charlie, Joe, and Steve; and his cherished companion, Coco-"Daddy's girl." Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Kitty and John, and his brother Tim. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who remember him with deep affection.
A celebration of Mike's life is planned for April 2026!
