Joyce Ida Weaver, born October 23, 1936 in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska. Died June 1, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Preceded in death by parents, Francis and Hazel Janecek; beloved husband of 48 years, Bobbie L. Weaver; and sister, Dona Jean Gratt. Survived and missed greatly by daughter, Ruth A. Gorski, son-in-law John Gorski and her adored granddaughter, Kathlyn (Katie) Gorski; sister, Kathleen Minter and many nieces, nephews and their children. Joyce Janecek fell in love with Bobbie Weaver in Compton, California while working in the local movie theatre ticket booth. They married on January 26, 1957. In 1964, they welcomed their only child, Ruth Ann, born on Bobbie's 37th birthday. The small family of three moved around the state of California over the next 12 years after Bobbie decided to walk away from being a Police Officer in the unsettled 1960's Southern California. Over the next 12 years, the family owned a motel in Big Pine, CA, enjoying many adventures in the beautiful Owens Valley. They moved to Northern California and lived in the small towns of Coloma and Pine Grove before deciding to relocate to Las Vegas, NV in 1976. During these years, Joyce helped support the family by using her extraordinary skills in balancing budgets and making the most of what she had. From being a telephone operator to managing the Bristlecone Pine Motel in California; and then working with her beloved sister-in-law, Irma, as a Change Girl at WonderWorld in Las Vegas, and then managing a flower shop, Joyce was always known as an excellent employee and loved co-worker. Joyce's life revolved around her family and home. She prided herself on always keeping her home sparkling clean and her yard immaculate. She was so proud of her daughter and enjoyed traveling with Ruth and John on cruises and road trips. Her granddaughter Katie was the center of her universe and made Joyce's beautiful blue eyes sparkle with love and pride. Nothing brought her more joy than being able to help raise her and was so happy watching her grow into an amazing adult. Joyce will be missed but never forgotten, and shall be loved forever and ever. Service will be at 9:20 A.M. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Boulder City, NV. Joyce will be buried with her Bobbie immediately following.
