Katalin 'Kathy' Elizabeth
Washington
Apr 6, 1959 — Aug 11, 2023
Katalin Elizabeth Washington, 64, of North Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023 after a brief, but aggressive fight against breast cancer. Known to her family and friends as Kathy, she was born April 6, 1959 in Ohio, a daughter of Kalman and Helen Gonczy. Growing up, Kathy had four siblings; Robert (Bobby), Sharon, Paulette and Darlene (Dar). Kathy was an accountant for Homes for Rent. Kathy loved interior decorating and design as well as traveling and being outdoors. She loved her friends and family and her grandbabies (RJ and Aria). She was known for her fun and bubbly personality. She almost always had a smile on her face. She was 'the life of the party'. She had a firm foundation in her faith and was a Christian. She loved the Lord and leaned on Him for continued strength and guidance. She was an avid supporter of St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother, Robert (Bobby) who died January 1, 2000 and sister, Sharon who died September 2020. She is survived by her daughter, Kara Washington, son-in-law Richard Wint, and two grandchildren Richard (RJ) Wint, and Aria Wint. She is also survived by two sisters, Darlene (Dar) Dudgeon and Paulette Johnson; nephews, Dennis Dudgeon, Lonny Johnson and Alan Johnson, Nieces Nichole Lester and Doreen Dudgeon, as well as many great nieces, nephews and cousins. She was known to her great nieces and nephews as 'GAK' because she was their Great Aunt Kathy. A date will be announced when she will be laid to rest in her family plot in Ohio. Two Bible verses that Kathy leaned on for comfort and guidance: Psalms 23 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. Jeremiah 31:16-17 Thus says the LORD: Refrain your voice from weeping, And your eyes from tears; For your work shall be rewarded, says the LORD, And they shall come back from the land of the enemy. There is hope in your future, says the LORD, That your children shall come back to their own border.
