Obituary

Kathleen 'Kas' Dlugosz Heackley (Bray) born in Newark, NJ on October 20, 1943, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 16, 2024. Kas moved to Las Vegas nearly 60 years ago with her first husband, longtime attorney Allan Bray, after he left the FBI to become a Las Vegas city attorney and then later set up a private law practice. They had two sons, Stephen and Eric. She was a dancer and performer at the Circus Circus, in clubs around the country; she also co hosted the Vegas Vampire late night TV program on several occasions and was featured on a billboard on the Strip; sold real estate/horse properties for decades; was a big supporter of the Girl Scouts and animal rescues, and showed Arabian horses. Stephen and Eric spent many weekends with their mother at Horsemen's Park while she competed with her Arabian, 'Kanado', in the English class. Kas, along with her second husband Vic Heackley, sons Stephen, Eric and Vic's son Michael spent summers sailing, skiing and boating on Lake Mead, and winters driving the family RV to Aspen, Brian Head and Lake Tahoe. She was a natural athlete who loved to teach the boys to snow and water ski and left the family with so many indelible memories in the outdoors. She loved a good scotch and a ribald joke, especially if she was telling it. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Kathleen Dlugosz, her first husband Allan Bray, and her son Eric. She is survived by her son Stephen (Stephanie), her sister Patricia (Ross) Petren, niece Liza Keil , nephew Brian Keil, cousins, numerous friends and professional associates. She was well loved, and will be greatly missed by all.
