Obituary

Kathleen Maria Poma (née Posey), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at the age of 81 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Patricia Poma Taylor (Matthew), and grandchildren, Max and Maci, who were her greatest joy in life. She is also survived by three siblings, Donna Medea, Charles Posey, and Dorothy Posey More. Born on October 7, 1944, to Charles and Gertrude Posey, in Brooklyn, New York, Kathy moved with her family to Hicksville, NY on Long Island, when she was four years old. She attended St. Ignatius Catholic School and later graduated from Hicksville High School in 1962. Following graduation, she worked in various jobs in the medical field until becoming a stay-at-home mother. In June, 1965, she married her high school sweetheart, William Poma, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, in Hicksville, NY. They moved to Port Jefferson, NY in 1968. They had three daughters, two who preceded her in death, Kerri Ann (1975) and Nicole Marie (1987). In 1976, they ventured across the country in search of warmer weather and ample job opportunities, which they found in Las Vegas, Nevada. Enjoying the desert climate, they traveled the southwest and California extensively with their girls. They were married for 43 years, before William's passing in 2009. Kathy worked as a medical assistant for Drs. Watkins and Hirsh, Urologists, for 25 years, until the doctors retired. She then worked for St. Rose Dominican Hospital in medical records for several years before retiring in 1999. Kathleen's funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson, NV 89074. Internment will be held privately.
