Obituary

Kimberly Inman Van Eykeren was born in Hayti, Missouri on April 30, 1958, and died on March 15, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The third child of Jimmy Robert and Mary Jo Inman, Kim was preceded in death by both parents, her beloved grandmother, Moddy Richardson, aka Nan-na, and her baby granddaughter Tianna Cabero. The only brunette out of seven siblings, Kim was affectionately called the 'Chocolate Drop'. Kim had a beautiful smile, a bubbly personality, and a great sense of humor. She was voted Class Clown by the 1976 graduating class of Bitburg American High School, in Bitburg, Germany. A 44-year resident of Las Vegas, Kim held many different jobs including as a licensed hair stylist, food server, secretary in the food and beverage department at the Desert Inn Hotel and Casino, medical office assistant and bartender. In every job, Kim's happy disposition and kind heart won her many friends and eventually the heart of her second husband, Louis Van Eykeren, whom she met while tending bar at BT's Pub. Lou and Kim loved to travel especially by car, driving round trip across the United States more than 30 times to visit friends and family along the way. Kim was an avid reader, loved movies and kept up with friends and family online. She was most joyous when with her children and grandchildren who she loved dearly. Though she suffered a debilitating illness in the last few years of her life, Kim never lost her sense of humor, love of adventure and zest for life. Kim is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 17 years, Lou Van Eykeren; children, William (Leeor) Harris, Lynda (Damon) Jaeger and Stefanie Harris; grandchildren Brianna Cabero, Brayden Harris, Micah Jaeger, Ethan Harris, and Aria Harris. She is also survived by six siblings, brother, Robbie (Susie) Inman of Germantown, TN, and sisters, Teri (Jim) Cox of Mustang, OK, Jina (John) Couvrette of Las Vegas, Cindy Pumroy of Beverly Hills, FL, Kelly Smith of Hampton, VA and Amy Dix of Homosassa, Fl.; as well as 13 nieces and nephews and stepfather, Major General (Ret) Ervin 'Sandy' Sharpe. A private celebration of Kim's life will be held at a future date.
