Las Vegas, Nevada

Starts at 1:00 pm (Pacific time)
Larry passed on to his eternal home Friday July 10, 2026 in Las Vegas NV after a lengthy challenge with dementia. He was born to Willard and Frances (Back) Hurst on June 27, 1941 and raised in northeastern Montana along with five brothers and two sisters.
Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 13, 1960 completing his service in Thule, Greenland in March 1964. Upon returning to Las Vegas, he married Mary Ellen McNall by which union they raised three sons; Larry Jr., Ronald, and Jeffrey. He was employed at Southwest Gas Corporation in May 1964 and retired in January 2004. Upon his retirement Larry and Mary Rose Keil married and moved to Colorado where Larry could enjoy the great outdoors; fishing, boating, camping, traveling everywhere; and, tending to his overgrown garden. Spending summers in Colorado and winters in Las Vegas suited him well. In 2018, they returned permanently to Las Vegas in order to more readily address Larry's medical needs and be "back home".
Larry is survived by his devoted wife and constant companion, Mary Rose; his three sons; two brothers Curtis (Angela) and James (Linda), sister Patty Hurst; six grandchildren; Lauren, Erin, Davis, Tayler, Chloe and Garrett Hurst. Also, his step-children; Angela Keil-Hurst, Roland Keil (Marcie), and Chris Keil (Shelly); step-grandchildren; Andrew, Austin, Brennan, Addison, Deban and Megan and great-grandson, Lincoln Keil, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lesley, Wayne, and Stanley and sister Sue Moore.
Larry leaves behind not only numerous friends and relatives but countless memories of good times and a zestful life filled with goodness, kindness and inclusion. He was a warrior and courageous throughout his journey with dementia. Every moment spent with Larry was an example of how to live with courage, integrity and love.
We are especially grateful to Ray and Lyn for providing Larry the most loving, compassionate, and personal care during his residency at Serenity Senior Living. Heartfelt thanks to everyone for all the visits, hugs and prayers bestowed upon him during the most difficult time of his life.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton Roman Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive, Las Vegas NV. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
