Laura Jaget, age 59, our beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026 after a private battle with cervical cancer.
Laura was born on December 15, 1966 in Las Vegas, NV. A lifelong resident, she lived a rich life and accomplished so many wonderful things.
Laura was a decorated athlete in multiple sports. She began playing tennis at age 6 and was a nationally ranked player throughout her junior career. She graduated from Valley High School in 1984, where she won several state tennis championships and was named Athlete of the Year her senior year.
Laura received a full-ride tennis scholarship to the University of San Diego where she played both singles and doubles for four years, graduating in 1988. After graduation, she attended the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. She graduated in 1992 and began her 34 year career as a successful and well respected chiropractor. She was the owner of a multi-location practice.
Despite her decorated tennis career, it was actually later in life that Laura found her true passion: pickleball. It took her no time to become a champion there, too. She won a multitude of tournaments, including the US Open and the National Championship, leading her to eventually turn pro. Her career high DUPR was 5.662. After Covid forced an extended break, she began playing only with friends and for the pure joy of the sport.
Her most recent accomplishment was being chosen to represent the United States as a member of the 2025 U.S. Open Pickleball team in the Maccabiah Games which were to be held in Israel. Unfortunately, the games were cancelled and rescheduled to the summer of 2026. Despite the cancellation, it remained one of her great honors to have been chosen to represent her country.
Laura maintained many interests in her adult life. She was a ballroom dancer, loved to travel, and had a great passion for helping others. She began her podcast, How To Life, with the goal of helping young people navigate the challenges of adult life. She had a loyal following of listeners and subscribers.
At age 50, Laura traveled solo for the first time. She went to South Africa to do the world's highest bungee jump. She swam to the edge of Victoria Falls in Zambia. She also traveled to Machu Picchu and Venice, both of which she loved.
Laura was a wonderful person to have in your corner. She loved to encourage people to follow their dreams. She was a great comforter and supporter. Her friends often asked her to be with them as they delivered their babies. Laura's love for everyone knew no bounds.
Of all Laura's accomplishments, it was her four beautiful children of which she was most proud. Michael, Julian, Shaye, and Aliyah were Laura's ultimate contribution to the world. She poured the very best of herself into her children and her connection with them transcends time and space. To her great delight, her bonus son, Jac Mathews, also entered into her life years later. They shared an instant and special bond and she loved him dearly.
Laura is survived by her children, Michael Jaget (Maia-Gili), Julian Jaget, Shaye Jaget, and Aliyah Jaget; bonus son, Jac Mathews; mother, Arlene Gonzalez; sisters, Cristi Davis (Steve) and Marisa Kendrick (Tom); brother, Andre Gonzalez; former husband, and father of her children, David Jaget; and several loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Manuel Gonzalez.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the dedicated group of friends (the "A line") who provided endless love, support, and companionship throughout Laura's journey.
A graveside service will be held at Palm Northwest Mortuary on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Care Cremation and Burial.
A celebration of Laura's life will be held at a later date.
