On January 23, 2026, our beloved mother, Laura Ann Wood Newton, passed away peacefully. She lived a life rooted in faith, devoted to Jesus and grounded in the Word of God. Laura was born on September 17, 1940, in San Bernadino, CA. Her parents were George Paul Wood and Faithie Oleta Victory Wood. Laura joins her beloved husband of 49 years, Lloyd Turner Newton Jr. (Pete) in Heaven after many years missing him. She also joins her sister, Sharon Wood. Laura is survived by her loving family, her children, Tracie Newton McDaniel (Robert), Lisa Newton Wilson (Rodney) and Larry Turner Newton (Erin) and her sister, Linda Womble. She very much loved her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Laura loved music and played several instruments preferring blue grass and old-time mountain music. She and Pete spent many happy years attending music festivals and jam sessions, traveling across the country. Laura loved the Bible and taught young women and mothers about Jesus for many years. They are a testament to her dedication to the Lord and to them. Laura's life on earth has ended but she lives in the arms of the Lord beginning an eternal beautiful journey.
