In Loving Memory of Les Grey

April 30, 1957 – August 27, 2026

Les Grey, 69, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on August 27, 2026. Although Les had a legal first name, anyone who truly knew him knew him simply as Les—the name he used throughout his life.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, on April 30, 1957, Les remained a Detroit boy at heart throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zigmund and Lillian.

Les built a successful career as a Senior Project Manager. Working primarily as a contractor gave him the opportunity to bring his experience and talents to multiple industries throughout his career.

But a résumé could never adequately describe Les. Those fortunate enough to know him knew an exceptionally kind, generous, sensitive and caring man. He listened, he helped, and he supported the people he loved without keeping score. He didn’t need recognition for the things he did for others; taking care of the people he loved was simply part of who he was. Les and his wife, Shari, met through Match.com and had their first date on October 10, 2015. What began as an online introduction grew into a loving partnership and a life they built together.

Early in their relationship, Les welcomed not only Shari but her beloved fur babies, Tiger, Tabitha and Larry, into his life alongside his dog, Tola. Together they became their own little family.

Les introduced Shari to two great loves that became an important part of their life together: travel and hockey. Their first vacation together was an Alaskan cruise with Len and Ann, who were an important part of their lives and travels.

Sports were a lifelong passion for Les. A devoted Detroit sports fan, he especially loved the Detroit Red Wings and his childhood hero, Gordie Howe. He loved telling stories from his younger years, including making his own press passes to get into hockey games and once sneaking an entire large pizza into a Red Wings game under his coat.

His relationship with the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers could best be described as equal parts love, loyalty and frustration—the kind of relationship only a lifelong Detroit sports fan could understand.

Later, the Vegas Golden Knights became another important part of Les and Shari’s life together. Hockey wasn’t simply a sport to Les. He felt it deeply. He

celebrated the wins and took the losses to heart, sometimes quite literally to tears. That was Les—a man who wasn’t afraid to care deeply about the things and people he loved.

Les is survived by his wife, Shari; his (stepson) David and his wife Carolynne his (adopted) daughter Mercy and his granddaughter Kady, his brothers, Len and Larry, and their wives, Ann and Cynthe. Ann held an especially meaningful place in Les’s heart. He had known her since he was just 10 years old and never thought of her merely as a sister-in-law—he always called Ann his sister.

He is also survived by his nieces, Lisa and Laura, and their husbands, Brett and Dan, as well as many cousins, extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by Les.

Les leaves behind countless memories—trips taken, hockey games watched, animals loved, meals shared, stories told, laughter, and all of those seemingly ordinary days that become extraordinarily precious when someone we love is gone.

For Shari, Les was far more than her husband. He was her companion, her travel partner, her hockey partner, her source of support, and the person with whom she built a life.

The measure of Les’s life cannot be found simply in the number of years he lived, but in the love he gave, the people he cared for, the experiences he shared and the memories he left behind.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
