Obituary

Lester "Les" Orville Kincaid was born on August 29, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio.

He passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, at the age of 85 in Las Vegas, Nevada, leaving behind a lifelong passion for food, wine, and conversation.

Les proudly served in the Marine Corps Band and Drum and Bugle Corps and was also attached to the Los Angeles Police Department, reflecting a life shaped by service, discipline, music, and dedication.

He is lovingly survived by Tammy, his wife of more than 43 years, who shared his joy for good food, fine wine, and the many adventures they experienced together.

Together, Les and Tammy built a life filled with travel, laughter, lasting friendships, and countless conversations around the table.

In the 1980s, Les became one of the first to introduce cooking classes to Las Vegas, generously sharing his knowledge, enthusiasm, and love of food with hundreds of students over the years. He continued teaching cooking and wine appreciation through UNLV Continuing Education until classes ended in 2020 during the COVID shutdown.

During this time, he authored several cookbooks and promoted food- and wine-related trips to Oregon, Washington, California, Baja California, Mexico, and Tuscany, Italy. Les also consulted with several restaurants, helping develop staff knowledge and refine menus.

Throughout the years, Les brought his personality and passion to three radio and cable shows: Lifestyles Las Vegas, Tableside Du Jour, and, most recently, Wines Du Jour, which aired weekly for 19 years. "Wine is Food" became a favorite slogan. Through his teaching, cookbooks, seminars, and broadcasts, he touched many lives and shared the pleasures of food, wine, and conversation with warmth and generosity.

Les will be remembered with love for his generous spirit, his zest for life, and the lasting joy he brought to those fortunate enough to know him.

May his memory linger like a favorite meal, a good glass of wine, and a conversation that no one wanted to end.
