Linda Lee Ann Lash, 78, finally decided she'd had enough of hospital food and the Las Vegas heat. She passed away on September 22, 2025, in Henderson, NV.
Born July 5, 1947, in Connecticut to Rose Marie and John Herold, Linda spent her early years doing whatever it is people did before the internet-but undoubtedly doing it with flair. She was a histologist by trade. For many years she worked as a traveling temp, which is a fancy way of saying she looked at very tiny things for a living while making very big impressions everywhere she went. With her trademark vibrant pink hair and killer wit, she had the ability to make friends in hospital breakrooms nationwide.
She was the walking embodiment of joy with a mischievous glint in her eye. When she would try to tell us something funny, she couldn't get more than two words out before dissolving into uncontrollable laughter. I'd roll my eyes and tell her I was going to get coffee while she "pulled herself together," which, of course, only made her laugh harder. Those moments will be missed - and remembered with love.
Linda is survived by her two proud daughters: Coleen Ayn Holding (me), and Shannon Lynne Smith; her beloved grandson Jarid Lee Holding; her sister Sandra Crockett and her wonderful family; and two of her four ex-husbands-who shall remain unnamed but definitely know who they are.
Linda lived as boldly as her hair color and loved as loudly as her laugh.
A celebration of life will be held in Las Vegas, NV and Salt Lake City, UT (because Linda insisted on being celebrated in multiple time zones-classic). Dates are still to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, please just tell someone a ridiculous joke, dye your hair an unreasonable color, or laugh so hard you cry and forget the punchline. Linda would've wanted that.
Rest in punchlines and peace, Mom. You were one of a kind-and no, we're not just saying that because pink hair in a hospital setting was a
choice
