Obituary

Mrs. Lolita Canlas "Lita, Lola" Stewart (nee Puno), age 80, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Born on December 9, 1944, in Porac, Pampanga, she lived a life marked by resilience, devotion, and an unwavering love for her family. Lolita's journey took her from the Philippines to the United States, where she embraced the many roles life offered her with grace and determination. As the wife of a military serviceman, she adapted to frequent moves and changing circumstances with strength and resourcefulness. Over the years, she held a variety of jobs that reflected both her work ethic and versatility-from working as a maid at officer billets to assembling missile parts for the military. Among all her professional endeavors, she found particular joy in her role as Florida state ATM processor for First Florida Bank-a position she cherished deeply after her most treasured roles as wife, mother, and grandmother. A woman of deep faith, Lolita was grounded in her spiritual beliefs and never feared death. Her connection to God was a quiet but powerful force in her life-one that gave her peace and purpose throughout her journey. Lolita had a unique zest for life that shone through in everything she did. She was affectionately known as the queen of garage sales and flea markets. In the early years of marriage, Saturday mornings were reserved for swap meets-her rallying cry of "boys load the van" became a family tradition. In later years, yard sales became her treasure hunts; finding what she called "the deal of a lifetime" brought her immense joy. Her eye for quirky gifts-always thoughtful and often humorously unexpected-was one of the many ways she expressed love. She was a woman who gave far more than she ever asked for in return. Her generosity extended beyond material things; it was felt in every warm gesture, every shared laugh, every moment spent making others feel seen and loved. Her greatest pleasure came from doting on those around her-whether as a devoted wife to Thomas or as a nurturing mother and grandmother. Lolita will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind her beloved husband Thomas; children Leovina (Juvy), Bernardino (Bernie), Edgar, Junior, Donna Marie, Oliver, and Leslie (Boo); and grandchildren Bethany, Leland, PJ, Bailey, Eden, Anthony, Brenden, Jana, Elysia, Sydney, Emma, Wybie, Ethan, and Zaiha. Her legacy lives on in the laughter shared at family gatherings, in the stories told over meals prepared with love-and in every thoughtful gift that made someone smile just when they needed it most. May her memory bring comfort to all who were touched by her kindness and spirit.
