Marilyn "Mimi" Jean Vought Laine

September 2, 1945 – March 25, 2026

Marilyn "Mimi" Jean Vought Laine, age 80, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026.

Born on September 2, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Marilyn was the beloved daughter of Marvin R. Peifer and Ellen (Matilda E. Larson) Peifer. She was raised in Allen Park, Michigan, and graduated in 1963 from George G. Schafer High School in Southgate, Michigan.

Marilyn built a distinguished career in the travel industry, dedicating over 30 years to helping others explore the world. While working full-time at Book Couzens Travel and raising her daughter, she earned her Certified Travel Consultant (CTC) certification in the late 1970s. Her passion for excellence led her to complete numerous professional trainings and recognitions, including American Airlines Travel Agent Ticketing Course (1980), Sabre Subscriber Training (1981), Hawaiian Travel Associates Familiarization Tour (1981), United Airlines Apollo Training (1982), and the European Travel Commission 25-Nation Course (1994), among many others. She retired in 2016 from HSI.

Travel was not only Marilyn's profession but her greatest passion. In 1988, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by embarking on a three-week African safari, where she saw her favorite animal, the elephant, in its natural habitat. In 2013, she shared another unforgettable journey with her daughter Tiffany, traveling through Venice, Dubrovnik, Athens, Izmir, Sicily, Naples, Florence/Pisa, Marseille, and Barcelona. These adventures were just a few among the many cherished memories she created with family and friends around the world.

Above all, Marilyn loved her daughter, Tiffany, deeply. She also adored her beloved pets—her grand-fur baby, D.O.T., and her fur baby, Yuki—as well as her fondness for chocolate.

(Tamra "Tammy") Peifer of Pinehurst, TX; her sisters, Patti J. Albert of Dundee, MI, and Lorri K. McConnell of Mount Juliet, TN; and her brother-in-law, Lloyd H. Bourdas of Northridge, CA. She is also survived by her former sisters-in-law, Carolyn M. Peifer of Richmond, VA, and Deborah "Debbie" (Gerald) Lewis of Every, MI.

Marilyn leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including numerous nieces and nephews: James R. "Jimmy" (Crystal) Deake, Nicole S. (John) Roldan, Courtney P.
