In Loving Memory of Mark Daniel “Markie” Mauer

May 12, 1986 – August 19, 2026

Mark Daniel “Markie” Mauer, 40, of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away in the early morning hours of August 19, 2026, at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nevada, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Markie was born on May 12, 1986, in Belleville, Illinois, to Mark and Sally (Best) Mauer. He grew up in Collinsville and graduated from Collinsville High School in 2004. He continued his education at Southwestern Illinois College in 2005 and later furthered his studies at Kaskaskia College, pursuing CompTIA A+ certification and training as a Network Systems Administrator.

Throughout his life, Markie was hardworking, ambitious, creative, and never afraid to pursue something new. He worked as a porter at Busch Stadium, where his dedication and strong work ethic earned him recognition and an award for his outstanding work.

Markie later followed his entrepreneurial spirit and created his own apparel company, Hollow Wear Apparel Inc. He also pursued modeling and the Grind It Up Podcast, giving him another way to share his personality, ideas, and determination with others.

One of Markie’s greatest passions was firearms, which led him to create Guns-N-Ranges. Whatever Markie became passionate about, he gave it his full heart and determination.

Most recently, Markie created The Mauer Foundation, born from his own experience with cancer and his desire to help others facing the same battle. The foundation was established to help individuals and families affected by cancer with the financial expenses that often accompany the disease. The Mauer Foundation will continue in Markie’s honor, allowing his generosity, compassion, and desire to help others to live on.

Markie was a fighter. He was a warrior.

So many people looked up to him for his strength, determination, and positive outlook on life. He was determined to beat cancer, and he did once. When the cancer returned aggressively, Markie continued to fight with everything he had. Even through the most difficult days, he refused to allow his circumstances to define who he was. He fought courageously until the very end.

Markie lived by words that perfectly reflected the way he approached life:

“Work hard in silence. Let success make the noise.”

More than his accomplishments, Markie will be remembered for the person he was. He never knew a stranger. He had a way of making people happy and making his friends feel more like

family. He had a kind soul, a generous heart, and an ability to remain positive even while facing battles that others could not see.

Markie was loved by so many people, and the impact he made during his 40 years of life cannot be measured simply by time. His friendships, accomplishments, determination, laughter, kindness, and the people he inspired are all part of the legacy he leaves behind.

Markie is survived by his loving parents, Mark and Sally (Best) Mauer; his siblings, Kevin and sister-in-law Jutana Mauer, and Sara (Mauer) and brother-in-law Caleb Boyle; his nephews, Elijah, Damon, and Aleister Mauer; his niece, Alora Boyle; and his niece on the way, Ellie Boyle. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were forever changed by knowing him.

Markie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Mary (Fudge) Best Sr. and Harry R. and Delores Mauer; his aunts, Angela J. (Mauer) Allison, Lisa J. (Best) Nelson, and Carol A. (Best) Meadows; and his uncle, Harry R. Best Jr.

Though Markie’s battle has ended, what he built and what he gave to others will continue. His strength will be remembered by those who watched him fight. His friendship will be remembered by those fortunate enough to call him a friend. His love will remain with his family, and his desire to help others will live on through The Mauer Foundation.

Markie’s life was that of a fighter, an entrepreneur, a friend, a son, a brother, an uncle, and above all, a man who refused to give up.

Once a warrior, always a warrior.

Celebration of Life & Remembrance

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Markie Friday, September 18, 2026, and Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Complex at 203 W Main St. Collinsville IL 62234

An additional gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, American Legion in Collinsville, Illinois, beginning at 2:00 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Markie may be gone from our sight, but the strength, love, laughter, and memories he gave us will remain forever.
