Maureen McCarthy, formerly of Capitola, CA, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026 in Henderson, Nevada, following a brief illness.

Maureen was born February 18, 1961 in East Orange, New Jersey. She was adopted as an infant by Jack and Peggy McCarthy. In 1962 the family relocated from River Edge, NJ to Watsonville, California. Maureen attended local schools in Watsonville. In her early adult years she enjoyed cruising around town with friends in her Camaro.

In 1989 Maureen began her career with the Santa Cruz County Juvenile Probation Department, and later transferred to Superior Court. In 2001

she transferred to Santa Clara County Court where she was a Courtroom Clerk in the judicial department until her retirement in 2017. Maureen also held part-time positions at Gottschalks, Sears, and Pajaro Valley Adult Education. Maureen made many dear, life-long friends in all the places she worked.

Maureen recently moved to Henderson, NV where she was enjoying her retirement. She loved to travel, especially to Maui. She attended concerts and dances, and loved animals, especially cats. Maureen was a free spirit, and will be remembered for her infectious smile and bubbly personality. She was dearly loved, one of a kind, and lit up every room she was in.

Maureen was pre-deceased by her parents Jack and Peggy McCarthy. She is survived by her brother Michael; numerous cousins; and many friends who will miss her tremendously.
