Melvin Thomas Alencastre, 68, raised in Kailua, O'ahu, formerly of Volcano and California, died Dec. 22, 2023, in Las Vegas, NV. Melvin was born Dec. 1, 1955, in Honolulu, HI, and was the third child of Melvin and Pricilla Alencastre. Survived by his son Maulikealohimaikalani and Daughter in-law Stacey Alencastre, grandchildren (Kira, Jonah, Jordan, and Jaden), sister Makalapua Alencastre, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by both parents, sister Laura Motu'apuaka, and brother Timothy Alencastre. Melvin is a 73' graduate of Kailua High School where he played football. He also paddled for Kailua Canoe Club. He was a skilled mechanic, tile setter, and loved to golf and fish. He worked in numerous occupations in Hawai'i and California. Melvin was a fun loving soul that lived for the moment. Celebration of Life will be held in Las Vegas on Feb. 17th, 2024, with the scattering of ashes in Hawai'i at a later date.
