Michael Arthur
Smith
Aug 5, 1970 — Jun 15, 2026
On Monday June 15th, 2026, the world became a less interesting place with the passing of Michael Arthur Smith. A few paragraphs cannot capture Mike’s essence or the influence he had on everyone who knew him. Mike’s ever-present humor, charisma, charm, and curiosity for life permeated every aspect of how he lived. Regardless of the capacity in which you got to know Mike, as family, friend, neighbor or coworker, you were blessed to have him as part of your life.
We all have circles of influence in our lives, overlapping in different ways. Out of Mike’s many circles, he was at the center of most. An adoring husband, where he and Kim were each other’s universe. An amazing father, who always placed Jeremy and Justin’s needs above all else. An accomplished son of Pauline and Stanley, who would make any parent proud. A caring brother, always concerned for his sister Joy. To Julie, Gene, and Danny, Mike was a core member of the family, not simply an in-law. At work Mike was a mentor, a leader, and the smartest person in the room. He was a great friend with a ready ear and beer if needed, and always a helpful neighbor.
There are few people in this world that truly leave a legacy. Mike did. He would make an unbearable experience bearable, a bad experience good, a good experience great, and a great experience superb, all with unequaled intelligence and humor. He made every day memorable. Mike lived to the fullest, enjoying camping at a pristine mountain lake one weekend and the lavish night life of Las Vegas the next, soaking up the sun on the beaches of Los Angeles before grilling dinner for half the neighborhood, embarking on numerous adventures with countless friends. He loved to work with his hands, working on project cars and crafting jewelry, among many other endeavors. Everyone who knew him has been flooded with memories and emotions about their interactions, no matter how brief their encounter. An astounding human being who deserves more than a simple obituary can convey. To try to capture Mike’s life, and to keep his legacy alive, we encourage everyone to share their memories with his family and each other, for he is truly one and only. You will be missed tremendously, Michael Smith.
